Obituary of Gloria F. Menio

Gloria (Filippetti) Menio, age 100, of Watkins Glen went to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Seneca View Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY.

Gloria was born on May 20th, 1923 in Watkins Glen, NY the daughter of the late, Thomas and Christina (Martine) Filippetti.  She graduated from Watkins Glen High School and married Edward Menio in Watkins Glen on August 7th, 1943.  She had worked for 20 years as a telephone repair clerk for NY Telephone.  She was a member of the FOE, BPOE, Moose Club, Mechanics Club, and was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church.  She loved cruising, gambling, singing, playing cards and dancing. She had previously resided in Port Orange, FL for 30 years and family was very important to her.

Gloria is survived by her daughters, Sandra Menio Cherock and Christina (Simon) Birtley; sons, Edward (Suzanne) Menio, Thomas (Lorraine) Menio, and Mark (Francis) Menio; Eleven Grandchildren; Twelve Great Grandchildren; sister, Teresa Filippetti Cope; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Edward Menio; brothers, Ernest, Joseph and Thomas Filippetti; sisters, Rachel F. Vickio, Henrietta F. Crouch, Mary F. Vickio, and Loretta F. Van Horn.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Link at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following at 11:00 am at the Church.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen, NY.  Her family would like to thank Dr. Saks and the staff at Seneca View for the compassion and wonderful care shown to their mother.  Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in Gloria’s Memory to Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, 220 Steuben St., Montour Falls, NY 14865 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS  66675-8516.  Memories of Gloria may be shared with her family and friends at haugheywoodzinger.com
